How lucky can one girl get?
This is the amazing collection of books I received for my birthday last week from friends and family. They do know how to spoil me, don’t you think? With so much choice it’s tough to know what to read first!
I’ve been interested a lot about food in the last few years and even though I think we eat pretty healthily around here there is always room for improvement. Fad diets come and go but it seems common sense is slowly making a come back and it really never goes out of style. I’ve just finished SuperFoods by Steven Pratt and I’m looking forward to finally reading The Omnivore’s Dilemma.
Of course, all in good measure so a little bit of French cooking will hopefully provide special treats. I’ve never been one for French food but I think it is only because I haven’t really given it a chance. I know I’m a bit picky but I’m determined to give it a go. My Meme would be proud.
On the craft front, I received Lotta’s sewing book full of fun projects and her refreshing permission to just go for it and do the best you can. My patience is thrilled at that notion. I also got a lovely knitting book, The Yarn Girls’ Guide to Simple Knits, I hadn’t heard of before. My mum saw it and thought of me :-) There’s a very nice cardigan in there I wouldn’t mind wearing in winter days.
I’m sure you also spotted the lovely Alicia’s Stitched in Time. I had this one on my wish list for a long time and from the little I’ve looked into its pretty pages, it is just as charming and adorable as I imagine her house and studio must be. The projects read like a friend explaining them to you. I know the book’s been available for a while and I’m a little late to the party but it is every bit as good as everyone says. Can’t wait to try a project. The idea of a quilt has been flying in my head but more on that later.
Lots of goodness to read for one spoiled girl. I can’t wait for Autumn to roll around: tea, the sofa and a good book. Is there anything better?
